Contribution to NeoNatal care

 Music to save lives

It was January 2023. I was still fairly new into playing guitar and I had gotten a rare opportunity to play my guitar for a good cause. The funds gained were to  provide care for premature born babies, for the Neonates foundation of India.

This was my first ever public performance and the nerves were really kicking in. Yet I was still determined to play well, only thinking about what the money raised could do for so many premature babies and the perturbed parents.

After days and days of practicing the same tune, the day had come. My stomach was clenched, palms sweaty and my heartbeat becoming louder by the second.

"Next we have Shanthav Gundala", I heard the host call me, and I hesitantly got up, 'what if I play the wrong note' , 'what if I forget the song' , 'What if the audience laugh at me' . These thoughts flood my mind, but I knew there was no turning back now.

So I went out there sat down, had the spotlight on me like a heavenly light. I couldn't really see how many people were in the audience because it was so dark, yet it felt like a hundred eyes staring at me. Then I played the first note, and just continued.

I managed to finish the song with no mistakes and the crowd applauded.

I was pretty proud of myself because I overcame my fear of playing in public and more importantly it was nice to know that I contributed to help, and that the funds raised would have helped a family out.

This event was good for me to overcome the obstacle of anxiety of playing in public, as well as a learning that my skills can cause the help someone needs.

Go check out Neonates to know more about what they do  ---> https://neonatesfoundationofindia.org
